I don't know how much of a demand there would be for this, but after talking with several people that have two (or more) accounts, I would like to be able to merge my two accounts. I would be willing to pay (say .... $10 per character) to move all my characters to the same account. I created the second account back in chapter one as I wanted to play each profession primary. That was before A-net gave us the option to buy extra character slots.

Anyone else care to see this feature added?

Yes, I use to have second accounts before.. Still have them actually and I'd love to move all the empty spaces and characters into my main account.

(They were all friends that quit I swear ^^. Most of them I helped buy too.. lol)

I was attacking with mails Arenanet half year ago about this issue?
The only answer I got back (After nearly a month of waiting) was:
"No. It is impossible."
And this should generally finish up the topic. Even if this is not such-a-complex update query inside the databases...

I'm thinking that the voices of many may be more readily heard then the voice of one, even if that one keeps repeating the same message.

But, then again, the lack of response here kind of indicates that this is probably a dead horse.

Most threads here will be ignored (well, not ignored, but not done for several reasons)

If Anet says it's impossible, i'm willing to bet that it is either impossible or REALLY hard to do.

Erm that would probably be the reason why ANet would be unwilling to impliment this.

Well, I proposed some time ago an option. If the owner has got 2 accounts (like I do right now) and wants to transfer the characters from one to another, the person agrees to DELETE the account FROM which the character was transferred. So in simple way - the old account, from which You transfer character, is deleted.

Voila.

thats sucks its not impossible ppl in Wow can do it and wow sucks (well so i've heard they can)

The main reason why this is impossible is becoz it's all database related.

You CANNOT merge 2 different database entries (in this case: your two accounts)
This does make sence to some people i'm sure.

People in wow have a standard 10 slots when they make an account.
And levelling 10 caracters to lvl 60 takes time.

Who is talking about merging the accounts? The "merging" is just a name for the operation, but ->

As the "merge" is a name, the whole idea would be to change the index key id of the character record into the 2nd account id. This would be a loop for all the characters from the destination accounts. Then - delete the old one (really difficult? comeon!). The "merge" idea is just to change index key id's. I've done such an operation even with joined tables thousands of times in the company I work in.

So if anyone tries to tell me it has not been made because of the difficulties of the operation itself, I say this is bullshit.
IF it hasn't been done yet, it means, there are other issues holding the whole idea.

Regardless of how technically possible it is or isn't; Anet has stated they will never allow for accounts to be merged as a matter of principle. So don't bother asking.

Still kinda doesn't address the serious problems of transfering account wide stuff like rank/UAX.

I mean if you want 3 Campaigns UAS'ed you pay something like £70 ... ($140?)
So there can be a big business 'buying' UAX'ed accounts... although the thought is pretty sad, I think ANet will not be willing to give the EULA breakers more opportunity to scam.
